This is the Final blog I'll post all year, but I've got exciting things for 2016, What a year for tokusatsu, we've got Ninninger, Drive finished it's run, Power Rangers redeemed itself with Dino Charge, Ghost came (ummmmm.... Yay?), some niche toku like GARO and Fujiyama Ichiban came and went, and this is also the year tokusatsu that's not your typical Godzilla and Power Rangers became profitable, with more and more toku being released here legally.We've got some big things in store for 2016. One big thing that came out was Ultraman X (not to be confused with Ultraseven X or Kamen Rider X), showing currently running toku can be watched legally, but was it good?

Over a year ago, I teased my OOO review along with it's movie, but I haven't seen the series yet. Now I have, what do I think of it (especially since people thought it belonged on the Top 5 Must See Kamen Rider Series over Wizard, but  you need to understand, Wizard has a special place in my heart (I won't explain why now, but keep assured, something like that is coming))? It's pretty good, don't see myself putting it over Wizard, but It makes the perfect companion show to the AMAZING GOKAIGER!!!! In all seriousness, OOO is a great series for those who liked Gokaiger back in the day.

Top 5 Must See Kamen Rider Series

I did this for super Sentai a little over a year ago, You bet your ass I'm doing this for The bug eyed, motorcycle riding, rider kicking badasses known as Kamen Riders. Kamen Rider is much Darker than Sentai, but it's more dense. So Kamen Rider isn't really the best introduction to toku. but I gathered a list of Kamen Rider Series to start out with based off of a mix of my personal Cream of the Crop, Beginner accessibility, and most people I can recommend it to. Keep in Mind I haven't seen everything. even more so than super Sentai, some rider series I plan to watch include Stronger, More of Amazon, more of Super-1, Kuuga, Ryuki, Blade, and Kiva, and I'm watching OOO and Black RX as I'm Writing this... Yeah, we'll get to the Kamen Rider stuff, but I want to quickly touch on the Juohger reveal, which can be summed up in one 6 word sentence, "So yeah, That was a thing" Be honest, the helmets look alright, but what kills the suit for me is the rest of it. The torso looks like something you can get at the Hot Topic or Rainforest Cafe. I don't want these douches to save the world for an entire year and based on the mech designs, it looks like we're getting another Comedy Sentai. Ninninger was the right idea, but not quite there. The mech looks like a freaking Lego robot, and I don't just mean those cool space sets, I mean it looks like a robot you could built with Legos you can buy in a tub from a big box store.  The folding robots worked for Shinkenger, but they look like crap here. As of now the role play weapons haven't been revealed, but if they look as ass as the mechs and suits do, I almost wish we got Space Bugs for the 2016-2017 season. I wrote a blog for how a space bugs season would go. Who knows maybe the season will rock my socks off, but so far I'm not impressed...

OK since I did this thing for 2 years in a row, It's becoming tradition, I reviewed a MMPR Episode once for the franchise's 20th anniversary and again a year later when it became old enough to drink, Now in honor of Power Rangers' 22nd anniversary, we take a look at a weird one, from season 3. I admit season 3 for the second 2/3 of it was pretty normal for the most part, with epic 3 parters, and the alien rangers saga didn't divulge into the weird really either, sure there are exceptions like the episode showing of Bulk and Skull's musical skill, but honestly it was pretty much not as weird as previous seasons, which is perfectly OK, because Power Rangers tells 3 types of stories, epic storyline driven stories, Normal life made abnormal by monsters stories, and WTF Type stories. This  episode falls into the 3rd type, so indulge yourselves into the Diabetes driven episode of Rita's Pita...

Get the hate mail ready, I mean go to your email account/client to send Death Threats to me. I'm not a big fan of Ultraman... Do I hate it? NO!!!! I rather kind of like it. but once you've seen Ultraman, you've kind of seen Ultraman. This Especially goes for the Showa/Early Heisei era Ultra shows. There's its strong points, like the creative monsters (a la Power Rangers/Super Sentai (special mention goes to that totem pole monster from Mebius), and the designs of the Ultras themselves, especially the later Heisei Ultras. I believe I talked about Ginga Orignial a year ago, and needless to say, IT SUCKED!!!!! Bland characters, religious undertones, and an abuse of filler. Ginga S is longer, but is it better than The Original?

With the whole Gamergate thing (Which I don't give 2 Fraks about anymore), adding a storyline which some believe is as adventurous and epic as 60s Hanna Barbera Action Show to your oldd main show (which doesn't exist anymore), and Your Book (which I haven't read since I'm Broke and have no interest in buying it if I wasn't, or even the will to Pirate it). The internet taught us a valueable lesson last week, Never, ever make a slanderous review of an adam sandler movie where you attack and borderline threaten him, I wonder who taught us that lesson? I admit the review felt justified (since the movie looks stupid), if a little childish (ask me about how being angry for views worked out for me sometime). The Premature end of A. Yoshi News Desk...

People are so going to hate me for this, but I'm canceling Anonymous Yoshi News Desk 2 months in. The basic version is that a lot of this blogs whether they'd be history pieces, news stories, reviews, or even updates take a lot of energy out of me, and having 20 different blog series on a regular basis only takes more of that energy from me, Kind of the reason I made my quick thoughts "series" if you want to call it that. It's also the reason I have to pause my Kinnikuman Retrospective every few arcs, another thing this energy draining caused me to do is taking away the epic storyline for my blogs. I've been doing this blogging thing for almost 4 years, and various changes have occured. Another big reason I had to quit is that I wait until the last minute to find stories, and I miss some, I need energy for this gig. So the moral of this story is I want to keep this gig as fun as possible, even if I have to make drastic changes. Does that mean R.Cubed will return? Maybe... But right now I need to catch a breath after such a big July... But keep in mind this isn't the end of Geek news in the world of Anonymous Yoshi Blogs. :)

Gaming Bits: Conker: A Story of a Deconstruction of the Mascot Platformer

Before we begin, we are talking about Mature Rated games, while I'll be trying to keep this segment family friendly, reader discretion is still advised...

I don't know about you, But I love the 3D Platformer, It was the #1 genre of the N64, My favorite console of all time. It had games like Super Mario 64, Crash Bandicoot 1-3, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Spyro 1-3, Croc 1 & 2, Ape Escape Series, Banjo-Kazooie series, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank series, Sly Cooper Series, Donkey Kong 64, heck I have fond memories of That Toy Story 2 game that always was a tad bit hard at times for me (then again I was 6 at the time and the pinnacle of my gamer life was Kirby 64), I even have nostalgia for games you wouldn't exacly consider Traditional Platformers like the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series (think about it for more than a rash reaction with Picard from Star Trek: Next generation facepalming with a cutesy poo "I'll just leave this here...") and Super Monkey Ball. But one game satnds out as one of the most interesting and one of my favorite Rareware games of all time, That was the deconstruction of the genre known as Conker's Bad Fur Day.

I think it was safe to say before (and for a lot of) 70s, The tournament arc in shonen fight manga was relatively non existent, but it was extremely prevalent in Sports manga like Hoshi no Kyojin. Sure there was fighting in manga like Ashita no Joe and Tiger Mask, but those were more sports than fighting. You could say the same for Kinnikuman, but as the series goes on, it gets more and more surreal. It becomes less and less about normal Pro Wrestling. But where did the Wrestling angle come from? Short answer the Author's (Yudetamago) passion for Wrestling. Long answer, no one, at least outside of japan, knows for sure... If anyone has any translations of the author's interview pages (you know the ones that come with every manga or even american comic book ever made), please tell me so I can confirm any info. Back to the trournament arc, Shonen fight anime like the obsure but influencial Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daisho were largely episodic, heck Tiger Mask, despite being about an overarching tournament, was largely a fight of the week series. But things would later change when japan and many other western nations decided to boycott the Moscow Olympics...

Gaming Bits: What if Metroid 64 was made?

Metroid, a video game franchise that broke all limits on each Nintendo System it was on, for a while, it was one of Nintendo's Big 3, with Mario and Zelda, however, as the years went on, it slowly became less and less relevant, with Pokemon taking it's spot on the Big 3, and was more known for being a Smash Bros fighter. Heck it even skipped the early 3D days of the N64 for the Gamecube in Prime (which is arguably one of the best Metroid games of all time, if not the best Gamecube game of all time), but in 2010, Yoshio Sakamoto revealed that if he could, he and his team would've developed a game for the N64 with the Metroid name on it... But they didn't have ideas on how it'd work, so today on Gaming Bits, we'll discuss possible ideas for Metroid 64 if it came to be...

Beast Wars: A More Mature Take of Transformers

One of the big problems of the transformers movies is that they're pandering, 1 dimensional schlock. Sure the 80s show was just as much so, but it was a product of it's time, and it was decent pulp sci-fi at the time. Still, all boys franchises from the 80s had to evolve to feed a new generation of kids, and not every franchise had a successful transition to the 90s, Thundercats was abandoned only to be remembered by 90s kids as one of the Founding Toonami Shows, He-Man had an unsuccessful sequel leaving the franchise to never to return again until the new millenium, GI Joe (the granddaddy of all action figures) was always on and off as far as popularity since the 1960s, and most boys toylines (old or new) from the 90s were overshadowed thanks to Power Rangers and Pokemon eclipsing their stars. Transformers was not one of those franchises, in fact, it made a CGI TV show that was just as good, if not better than most of the best G1 had to offer...

There isn't that much info on how Kinnikumnan came to be, but I think one day at a Japanese school, school, Yoshinori Nakai showed his best friend a sketch of a goofy looking Ultraseven and Takashi Shiamda was impressed, They were interested in becoming a mangaka duo, they were looking for a name and noticed one of their farts at a picnic smelled like a boiled egg. They decided to call themselves Yudetamago, after the Japanese word for said food. They submitted manga like Gong no Desu, a wrestling manga which would later for shadow what the series would become, and Mammoth to their favorite Magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump. While never being picked up for full series, Kinnikuman was picked up for 2 one shots, and later a full manga. This would later become a goofy Ultraman parody called Kinnikuman.

Most of these are nostalgic curiosities at best. However, some of these were in the so bad it's good range, Like my favorite example from that era, The 12 episode Guyver OVA, but this ain't a Guyver blog, this is another example from that same era. Keep in mind, if it was an OVA from the 80s/90s, it was an automatic death sentence, so this is going to be a good one, and it was a series that US Renditions (AKA a purveyor of badly dubbed anime in the 90s along with Manga and Early US Manga Corps) dubbed back the day. Manga is one of Japan's oldest art forms, it goes back as early as the 18th century, at least... But one genre attracts young boys, teenagers, and salarymen alike. That is the Shonen anime. It has elements like Martial Arts, Mecha, sports, horror, Sci-fi, and epic overly drawn out stories and arcs that go on for years on end. but It's beginnings are interesting, so let's go to the Age of Shonen Weeklies...

My Quick Second Thoughts on Power Rangers: Dino Charge (so far)...

Why have a good cable package to watch your favorite show when you can Stream it for free or download a torrent? Dino Charge is aware of this and tries to be nothing more than what it is, and what it is is a vast improvement over series like Super Megaforce, basically it's relatively simple and non gimmicky. The only gimmicks are the toys it markets, at least until they announce the Dino Charge VS MMPR special.

So I had Burger King's chicken fries today, and they're pretty damn good. Let me explain my history with BK... Once upon a time, I really liked Burger King. Mainly for their Pokemon toys, and their food was pretty good too. Chicken tenders that change to fit certain promotions, the best fries in the business, and it was all flushed down the stinker in 2011. They keep changing the recipe to their fries, their chicken tenders in fact I was just visiting their grave for the old Burger King just the other day.

Then just earlier this year I found out about their chicken strips, which were gone a month after I found about them. Just a month later (I think), I learned that they brought back the chicken fries. I had them today and here's my thoughts...

They remind me of the old chicken tenders they used to have. That can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it, but it feels kind of nostalgic for me, even if I didn't eat them when they were new, back in 2005. These also are quite spicy, which gives it more of a kick. These are nowhere as addictive as KFC's popcorn nuggets (please don't get rid of them), but it's more like their old chicken tenders mixed with their chicken strips. One last thing I want to comment on is their shape. I can see girls trying to eat it like the Yoshiette does...

Nintendo knew they had to be done asap since the big three (including them) were up to bigger and better things, and the last thing hey needed was a console that was barely more graphically capable than the original XBOX. But even with a huge burden on their back, they struck back with the powerhouse of the first few years of the seventh generation...

Nintendo Double Diamond Anniversary Retrospective Part 6: The Dark Age (Again, and 56k Warning)

Before we begin, let's talk about some Nintendo News that happened lately...


First off, Nintnedo's Creator Program or whatever it is is essentially a joke... Basically put, if you still want to make a living off of Nintendo games, you either A) have to give 30% of your paycheck to the big N, only produce videos on games on the list (and no, that doesn't include Pokemon, Smash, or others...), and not include other copyrighted clips, or B) Put some of your videos on review (which could take a damn long time because Nintendo), give 40% of your money to your employer, and it's the same basic details. If other companies follow suit, it'll lead to a snowball effect leading to creator programs that screw over their employers and we'll probably have a de facto SOPA for online videos unless you get permission from your employer, and lets plays and reviews will never be the same again.

On a more positive note, we'll be getting a live action Netflix Exclusive Zelda series, which'll be a more family friendly Game of Thrones. I'm really cautious, I'd like to see how this turns out. That's all i got considering they just announced this at the time of me writing this.

For almost 45 years, gaming has played a pivotal role in our lives, it helped people, it hurt people, it made people feel all kinds of things, This series will be talking about gaming history, gaming nostalgia, gaming series, gaming systems, Gaming Companies, games in general, and everything in between. I'l be talking about some of the systems of the late 90s/very early 2000s (Windows 9x and it's games, the Dreamcast, The N64 (REVISITED), Playstation 1, and maybe the handhelds of that era (Game Boy Color (REVISITED), Neo Geo Pocket Color, and the Japan only Wonderswan (Color))), I'll be talking some systems not many people know about (PC Engine/TurboGrafx, MSX/MSX2 Computer Systems, and the Japanese computers that birthed many franchises, ports, and little known companies like Nihon Falcom and Game Arts), I'll be talking about games from all eras and systems (like Pokemon for it's 20th anniversary in a year), I'll be talking about Companies that are interesting in one way or another, and most of all I'll be talking about anything and everything gaming.


BUT WHEN DOES IT COME OUT?

Nintendo Double Diamond Anniversary Retrospective... Part 5: The Slow DISC-truction of the Mighty Castle... (56k WARNING)

Here it is... the big one, My favorite era of video games and Nintendo. The PS1-N64-Saturn era. What is it about this era that makes it so memorable? Is it the introduction of video games for a lot of people to Video Games (including myself)? Is it the high quality Games that were released in that era (Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina, Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, etc.)? Is it the introduction to 3D graphics? Or is it Possibly the introduction of more complex, more intelectually challenging, more mature games? A lot of 90s babies remember the N64 pretty well, but there's more to this era than meets the eye...

Before we begin, let's talk about some things that happened within the last month (since I don't ahve the energy to do another R.Cubed)...


First off (most relevant things first), WHAT HAS CHANNEL AWESOME/THAT GUY WITH THE GLASSES BECOME?!?! I knew the site was on life support since 2012, maybe 2011, but the site is truly dying right now. I don't have the energy to talk about this in great detail, but let me put it this way, Channel awesome has no respect for their "employees", they let 5 producers and counting off the site, and it's just a matter of time before guys like Lewis and Kaylyn leave, by then the final death nail of Channel Awesome will be set (for me, anyway). This drama is worse than any other TGWTG/CA/Reviewverse Drama that has happened before. This is so fascinating, but It kind of destroyed my morale (even though I seem to be doing better)... Can we all just go back to 2010/2011/Early 2012? Bottom line, In within the next couple of years, Channel Awesome is going seize to Exist...


Secondly, New 3DS, only coming out in XL in America, yeah, I guess we don't need options in this modern age... OH WAIT, WE DO!!!!!! I need to recharge my batteries before I even talk about the New 3DS in greater Detail.


Lastly in this R.Cubed mini, Spidermania, First Spiderman's going to be Infinity War!!!!! Or maybe not, I've been hearing conflicting sources, only time will tell. Next Japanese Spiderman's in a US comic and we might get to watch the Whole Toei TV series again soon, So yeah... MY REVIEW OF JAPANESE SPIDERMAN IS  BACK IN PRODUCTION BABY!!!!!!!!

My quick thoughts on the Space Sheriff NEXT GENERATION Movies...

Welp, here it is, yet another attempt to revive the Metal Hero series. I'll admit, The Space Sheiff Gavan movie wasn't great, but it was a good hour and a half distraction, and I haven't seen Kikaider REBOOT, but I've kind of heard mixed feelings about it. This is a sequel to the Gavan movie, so how does this hold up? Does it have a future?

My top 5 favorite Shonen Mangas/Animes...

Shonen is arguably the most popular genre of Anime/Manga in Japan (and possibly of all the world), There's many different genres that go with Shonen Manga, From fighting, to sports, to gag animes/mangas. It's my favorite Genre, at least from the 1980s-ish? to the 1990s, and maybe part of the 2000s. I decided to do this little list to show you some of my favorites. What counts as a Shonen manga? That's hard to describe, because There's so much Genres, levels of violence, and types of humor (which is also part of the genre), the way I see it is two requirements:

1. Too simple to be aimed at older audiences (Seinen), yet too complex for young children (Kodomo). It's generally aimed at Older Kids, Tweens, and high school aged kids.
2. And a Person (age, gender, and race don't usually matter) completing a certain goal (whether it'd be be the best in a certain field of their life (fighting in tournaments, sports, etc)), or to get through day to day life with hilarious and surreal scenarios.

With that out of the way, (In order to 5th favorite to Most Favorite) Here are some of my favorites...

2014 was one hectic year for me, from the moving situation, to me graduating high school, but what really made my year tolerable is all the geeky news, events, and looking for busy next couple of years... What happened?

I also really got to stop the blog thing because It grew my ego for such a nobody, and caused me to hurt people as well (maybe even Kay-chan). So goodbye my friends...
