Big Trouble in Little Edo! Kamen Rider OOO Wonderful: The Shogun and 21 Core Medals: Director's Cut Review

Welp, after I write this, I've got at least 2 more Blogs to do, and Once this gets posted, There'll be only one blog left in the year. so Let's end 2015, a year with it's constant ups and downs, on a high note. This is Kamen Rider OOO Wonderful: The Shogun and 21 Core Medals: The Director's Cut. Time for the show you're waiting for to give me energy, because you count the medals 1, 2, & 3! Life Goes on, anything goes, coming up OOO!!! Epic Review is go!!!!!




STORY:

The movie begins with the Toei Logo (WAVES AND ROCKS!!!!!) as with any Toei theatrical film would begin with. The Toei turns into a core medal and the movie has an explanation on Greeed, Core Medals, and OOO. In Thuringen, Germany, Kougami Foundation is mining for the lost medal, and open a canister with thousands of core  Medals, and part of Tokyo flips to forest land. The medals create a castle, with a bunch of knight mooks... Akira, Eiji, and Ankh investigate the happening, the 2 riders henshin, and we get our title. The riders fight, and OOO does a little combo switching with Birth using his armaments. A mysterious King appears. He steals the core medals from our heroes and villains, he unmasks himself and...

Ummmmm... dude, I think that's a bit much lipstick for a man...

A. Yoshi: Don't care, she looks ugly, Too much lipstick with too ugly of a costume.

This she creature attacks Birth and steals more medals. The heroes get forced out of the castle grounds. Kougami converses with Gara (seen above), and Eiji is watching the news when he meets up with Ankh for the battle plan. The heroes learn more about Gara, He creates 3 female jesters, and they start causing chaos all over the city. One of the jesters is giving people 5 million yen, but giving them a edo hairstyle. The whole city is transported to Edo, and Kougami is given a edo era haircut. An all out riot's going on with the people of 2 eras, and Gara creates a Nue Yummy. Eiji turns into Kamen rider Birth to fight it. Ankh fights Nue Yummy when Eiji is losing, and Eiji still loses. The towns people get ready to drive the heroes out of town when a wise man tells them not to to. later another section of japan transforms into a dinosaur era location. We have an emotional moment where the heroes are settling in Edo, It needs to be seen for yourself... The only problem is teh kid, who, like any other toku kid whines about stupid selfish crap. It turns out Gara possessed the body of the boy's mother. Eiji becomes a target for Gara. Both teams of villains are plotting, and the next day, Team Birth tries to break the Barrier. Ankh gives Eiji his remaining medals, and he becomes OOO. OOO battles the Mooks and Nue Yummy, The wise man joins the fight, and they put up a good  match for the villains. Oh and the villagers join the fight and it's a full out brawl. After a chase scene, OOO is given the Cobra, Kami, and Wani Medals to transform into his BuraKaWani combo. The fight feels like something out of Killer Instinct, as evident by this Screencap...

OOO Finishes the Monster off with a rider kick. A Jester offers Eiji to return home at the cost of this village disappearing. Eiji says yes, and when he world's about to end, the 3 dimensions go haywire. The jester explodes, and we get an action scene powered to the OOO Theme.

BIRTH CANNON!!!! SET TARGET!!!! READY, FIRE!!!!!!!!!

OOO Rides to the top of the tower, and Gara, turns into his monster form. The 2 fight, and the Boy's mom is released from Gara. Then...

BLASTOFF!!!! Kamen Rider Fourze's coming to Toy stores all over Japan!

Kamen Rider Fourze joins the fight for a little bit, and Gara's knocked back to his tower. Gara takes OOO's Dinosaur Medals, and turns into a dragon since he has all 21 core medals. Birth joins the fight, but it's not until OOO gets his GataKiriBa combo from the Greeed that the fight turns in his favor... Then, only then...

WONDERFUL! THE POWER OF 8!!!!!

The whole scene's something to behold. Good wins, evil loses, and our heroes go their separate ways. and the movie's credits have a recap of the movie.


This movie's cute, but it doesn't have the same HOLY S**T!!! Factor that other rider movies have, it's not as good as a popcorn movie either...



CHARACTERS:

There's only one character of note and that is...

Gara is a joke of a villain, he's pretty much Kyoryu Greeed, only without the excellent characterization. He was a creator of the core medals, but we don't get anything new with him, other than his excellent design of his Kaijin form, but his dragon form, looks like it belongs on an early era PS2 game, and why does Gara need to possess a female body when he's freaking MALE!!!! The Kid's whinny as frak, and he's just another generic toku kid...



PRESENTATION:

It's a slightly more cinematic version of OOO, only the cinematic elements look like crap. I already talked about the Dragon, but the special effect scenes look like something out of a video game. Yeah, I know I might being too harsh  on this film since it's meant to entertain kids on their summer holiday, but the last Kamen Rider movie before this one challenged the viewer... Just a thought.



OVERALL:

This movie's just Okay, I'm glad I watched this for free (considering I can't do much else for this movie here) instead of paying for it in theaters or on home video. But seriously if you see an official Toku release in the states, buy/watch it. This movie gets 2.5 Gara Dragons out of 4.
