Gaming Bits: E3 2015 Special

Well, here it is, the gaming event to end all gaming events. A place where big boobies and even bigger games meet. A place where you could see all the big games before they even get released. Trailers, Gameplay, Celebrities, Booth Babes in Square Enix Crop Tops, and I wasn't there, I'm broke, and not a big name internet personality. I tried as much as I could to follow the big news, but, I got some of it better than others, So in this VERY SPECIAL Gaming Bits Segment, We tackle E3, What I liked, and what I didn't like...

First off is Microsoft, There were games like Gears, Halo, Fable Legends, and Forza for the regular XBOX Fan, but there were games that caught my eye, like ReCore (With a strong female protagonist), Sea of Thieves (Which has a slight potential to suck, but It's colorful, and a new IP), Rise of the Tomb Raider (a sequel to the hit Reboot Tomb Raider Game late last gen), Tacoma (the less that's revealed at a certain moment of time, the better), and the big winner of E3 this year, and the big show stealer, Rare Replay, 30 classic Rareware titles all in one place, I wonder how much this is going to cost... Another big surprise was partial backwards compatibility from the XBOX 360 to the One, what kind of world am I living in where Micro$haft is in the running for winning E3. Lastly, HoloLens i'm worried about, since the technology's still to young to work.

Second, Sony. They had a lot of good games shown. Colorful games, like No Man's Sky, Dreams, and the World of Final Fantasy. Multiplats like Batman: Arkham Knight, There was also Street Fighter V and Horizon: Zero Dawn, but the 4 biggest news were 1) Last Guardian was shown, showing that the game is out of the development hell it was stuck in for the better part of 6 years. 2) Final Fantasy VII's getting a remake, even after SE said they weren't going to, gee, I wonder how long the game'll be suck in development hell... 3) Shenmue 3's coming out, for real this time, after teases, Companies going under, and loss of trademarks, it's coming out!!!!! It's on kickstarter now, so go support it. and lastly, 4) Uncharted 4, The last chapter in the uncharted saga, at least until a couple of years later when they announce Uncharted 5, because you know the term "Last Chapter" In gaming is almost always a lie, since the'll just develop more in a couple years. Not so yay, No Vita stuff, despite it outselling the Wii U at the time of me writing this, though most of those sales are from Japan. Even more Meh was Morpheus and Vue, the former being a VR Headset, see the last part to see why VR isn't the best Idea for now. Vue is essentially a cable TV Service for PS4, yeah...

Now onto Nintendo, and this is going to be the most Painful to write about, because, they essentially lost E3. It has the most in common with their presser from 2008, where their big thing was showing off a tech demo from 3 years ago, but refurbished, Though this year it wasn't as bad, but it still played with our expectations. The big thing here was StarFox Zero, a game from 3 years ago. Though it looks better than Wii Music did in 2008, and it'd being developed by Platinum Games. the Nintendo Direct had it's moments, Xenoblade Chronicles X (the big game for this year), Super Mario Maker (support this, because the more people that buy it, we could see more of this), and a few 3DS games that caught my eye, like Fire Emblem Fates, A couple Zelda games, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, and  That's pretty much it, the rest is Skylanders, Yo-Kai Watch (which is interesting since it's based off a Japanese toyline and anime series), Metroid Prime for Toddlers, and Animal Crossing. Seriously, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh are pretty much not the big thing for Boys 6-11 anymore, let the monster collecting fad die already. Nintendo had big promises this year, because we waited for the new Wii U Zelda, 3rd party games Nintendo of Canada promised, and more Wii U titles (like Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, and Devil's Third). Nintendo, Can we talk, Man to Man, I understand you don't like how the Wii U's turning out, but you do want to get people hyped for the NX, right? You absolutely don't want to end up like Sega, but there's this old phrase saying "Those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it" right now you need to cut your losses, start the hype machine for NX a year from now, and release it in a following christmas or two, this is not coming from a Nintendo Hater, Heck I did a passion project based on my love for you which completed not to long ago, but do you remember a couple super bowls ago where they shown a nothing special subway commercial as a cost saving measure, you're not desperate anymore, I could forgive you not doing press conferences like you used to, but do some big things with the materials you have, because you don't want to imagine the games industry without you...

Finally, in what could be the biggest fail for E3 2015, AMD and PC Gamer had a press conference, which felt more like an elaborate 2 and a half hour talk show, even then, that's being generous... It showed off ports, a few reveals, and it was so boring that I forgot what they showed, I would forgive them more since it's their first time doing this, but no, AMD and PC Gamer are the wrong people for the job, we need Valve, Steam, and NVIDIA, maybe have the show sponsored by other big names, but when you fail more than the Big N this year, that's pretty derned sad. I want this concept to improve, but is it the right people?

Overall I give this year's E3, a solid B, Good but just a few better pressers from great.

NEXT TIME:

I think the time came to talk about a couple Rareware Properties for the next 2 or so segments...
