My quick thoughts on Avengers: Age of Ultron...

The Avengers was probably the best super hero film of the decade so far and also one of the best movies in recent memory. It left some pretty big shoes to fill, the closest any superhero film came, let alone any Marvel movie came for me was Captain America: The Winter Soldier, However does the most recent Avengers movie even come close or even surpass Captain America 2? Short answer, it kind of leaves a big gap in those shoes in the front. You know, where the toes should be...

Not to say it was a bad film by any stretch of the imagination, in fact it was pretty good, but what is the problem with the movie? It did have noble intentions, but it didn't always have the best execution... the humor was pretty good for the most part, but by adding a lot more of it compared to the original Avengers, it kind of gives more chances to miss, and some of the humor didn't work... Actually quite a bit of it didn't work. I did like the Stan Lee cameo, and the humor revolving around Mjolnir (or Thor's hammer) really worked. It did have bigger action and a darker story, but pacing is what kills that. It goes from fast to slow paced, then back again, and it keeps going on and on. Basically Ultron was built as a security program, but he goes bad, and begins creating copies of himself. The biggest problem with the story is that tries too hard at too many things. It tries to top Avengers 1, It tries to introduce new characters like Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (both of whom were first seen in Captain America 2), Vision (who I liked, but gets introduced late in the movie), and Ultron (who was pretty much a one off), and it collapses under the weight of it's own intentions. The Hulkbuster armor scene was pretty epic, and I'd pay to see a Sprukit of it from Bandai, or a similar product from whoever, but it's just one scene, which they hyped the hell out of like the Dinobots in Transformers 4. Overall pretty good intentions, not so great execution all the time. I 'd be more forgiving of it if it was the first Avengers, but even the original tried to be nothing more than what it had to be. I give this 3.25 Hulkbuster Armors out of 4.

Stay tuned because next Saturday is...
