Talking about Sailor Moon Crystal Arc 2 *SPOILERS*...

ATATATATA!!!!!! 2-HIT COMBO!!!!!!

So let's talk about Sailor Moon Crystal Arc 2: The Black Moon Clan arc... This might be shorter than the last time I talked about the series, just because I talked about the basic jist of the series, and the Black Moon Arc in separate blogs of their own. consider this an addendum to the last crystal blog, and talking about any differences between Sailor Moon R and the version of that arc presented here...

WARNING:
POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD (SOME MORE MAJOR THAN OTHERS)!!!!

So let's talk about the backlash against Sailor Moon Crystal. the main problem is the animation. Some say the animation looks cheap and stiff in some places. I think the big problem is trying to animate the manga panel that was so flamboyant and floaty that it just couldn't be adapted perfectly into animation, It's aversion of the uncanny valley that affects transferring a subject to one medium to another, it's happened with superhero movies, it's happened with various other manga, it's even happened with video games being adapted to movies, which is one of the reasons video game movies never really succeed. The original anime took the safe route by making a completely different creature than the manga (in which this was a closer adaptation in case you don't know), heck Naoko Takeuchi (the original creator of Sailor Moon) didn't like the original anime. The other big problem is the story, all I can say is the original had a lot of problems, the filler being the biggest of which, also the length was a huge problem too.

Now onto the arc itself. I already talked about the quality and the characters in the other blogs, and to be fair, not much has changed. The spectre sisters are monsters of the day compared to the regulars of the original. Rubeus has improved in some aspects, but he gets killed off just as quickly as the original. Chibiusa is still annoying but we see less of her considering the shorter length of the series. also unlike the original anime where she gets her powers midway into the S arc without any explanation, she gets her powers in the penultimate episode where we actually get to see her get her powers. Crystal is a very different animal compared to the first 2 arcs of the original anime. Which isn't a bad thing, because some of you saw the original anime to death. Some of that same group hasn't read the original manga, keep in mind that Sailor Moon came to the US at a time when manga wasn't that popular in the country. maybe quite a bit of you did the original manga and were shocked at how much it was different from the anime. A good portion of you don't really like manga and would prefer if there was an anime to that manga. So Sailor Moon Crystal was made for people just like you, people who want a different sailor Moon experience, but don't want to read the manga, and/or thing the live action series is too cheesy.

No let's talk about the last moments of the series. It looks like the series is going into the Death Busters arc, but it won't happen until 2016 (at least), see there was a reason for them not making a big deal out of arc 3. It's going to be a long wait, but I've got enough crap to keep me busy. New Sailor Moon blogs won't have to wait, because later this month, you'll be getting my thoughts on the S arc of Sailor Moon....

Until then support Hulu's broadcast of Sailor Moon...
