A. Yoshi Opinion Piece: Should Nintendo Go After the Cemu Wii U Emulator?

ATATATATA!!!!!! 2-HIT COMBO!!!!!!

Over The past 2 decades, the Internet's been filled with Pirates and people making derivative works out of copyrighted works, but really some companies are so paranoid that they abuse their power and go on a witch hunt for people who infringe on copyright. Heck governments are STILL trying to pass SOPA like legislature even though 1) It's just going to backfire when Tumblr, Reddit, 4chan, Mozilla, and other related companies and organizations say"NO, This is NOT Okay", and 2) It wouldn't get that much backlash if they didn't make it so draconian. Enough about that let's talk about what you want to hear so you can S**tpost me on 8chan, and go back to fapping to your Lolicon (look it up, but you're going to regret it), Nintendo's been on a witch hunt for the better part of 2 years, maybe more, for let's players, streamers, and reviewers, but they very seldom go after people who post actual copyright infringing people like ROM Sites (We'll come back to that), torrent sites, and people who actually use their characters or names for products or services (something I'm just as guilty of as anyone else), heck it's one of the big reasons they fell from the top 100 recognized brands in the world. But with a up and coming Wii U emulator on the horizon, Let's play devil's advocate and look at the problem and how they can fix it...

Before we begin, Let's do a little house cleaning...

My Thoughts on Emulation - I don't mind it as much as more severe forms of piracy. It's not doing any harm to the sale of games that aren't really being sold anymore, but here's the thing, we need a Gutenberg Project/Netflix/iTunes for classic video games, even if it'll take years to develop. This should be put in place so at least we don't feel dirty pretty much stealing games.

What is a derivative work - Let's say I take this pretty picture...

Drew Crap on it...

That's pretty much a derivative work in a nutshell...

I'm not going over all the things Nintendo did to let's players since it's been covered in GREAT DETAIL elsewhere, but needless to say, they go after these guys, but they can't go after ROM sites? Really? You know what they say, Go after the real criminals, everyone, or no one at all. It's debatable whether showing gameplay footage is fair use, but everyone else (Literally EVERYONE, Including 2 Time Golden Poo winner of worst company in America Electronic Arts) is cool with it, heck, The Big N's competitors have streaming capabilities, but Wii U needs extra crap to stream games, even then good luck not getting flagged or muted by Nintendo. Just recently they went after ROM hacks and had that joke of a multi-channel network where you can't upload s**t to save your life. but back to the whole go after one, all, ore none thing, just recently, Cemu (a Wii U emulator) was released and Nintendo's not making a fuss about it. Granted, It could take years to make it a perfect emulator, but right now, The Wii U can't sell for Peanuts, so this could negatively influence purchasing decisions, still, by the time it becomes decent, the Wii U will be dead and NX will be the new norm for Nintendo Hardware... Not to mention It'll be a matter of time before Nintendo says F**k it and sends cease and desists to the Cemu Developers, if they are as credible as I think they are... (If I could go off on a tangent, How is this a thing before a proper Original XBOX Emulator)

Also how has the Big N gone after one ROM site to my knowledge instead of everyone. They caused enough let's play seizures that they have the capability to do so. but alas they're not as big as Youtube or Twitch. Nintendo fanboys, do you realize that this is the same crap we accuse Viacom, Warner Music Group, the MPAA, and RIAA of doing (going on witch hunts, but not going after the Real Problem)? I under stand full movies, TV Show episodes, and music videos, but these are video games, refer to the earlier part after the derivative work to see my thoughts on it, even then, I could do a whole blog next time I want a traffic boosting Flame War, *smooch* Love ya too, Jess.

So what's the moral of the story? Pick your battles, but pick carefully if you had the choice of going after a place named Mario Bros Pizza in some obscure place in Little Italy, New York, or the Mario Maker Let's Play that's getting a lot of attention, which would you really go after if you were Nintendo? Kimishima-sama, Please fix this and give people faith for the NX...
