You know, there's been a boom of Power Rangers fan films these past couple of years, so much so that Saban Brands thinks they an outdo them with their MMPR Reboot film coming out next year. Some of the results are pretty darn good. This is no exception, yes I'll be talking about the takedowns...
Basically, this re-imagines Power Rangers as an R-rated sci-fi epic. The acting and production values are better than most Power Rangers seasons, even the more recent ones.If you remembered Power Rangers as a kid, and is my age or older, go see this right now, it's 15 minutes and is really good, just the fact people post these types of things knowing they're not going to make money off of it shows some major dedication. The story is that the United Alliance of Evil have taken over the earth, and the Power Rangers are retired and most of them dead. This kind of reminds me of Pokemon Apokelypse, another fan film which was based off of Pokemon that was released a few years back. It's a film that needs to be seen to be believed.
Now onto the takedowns, Saban wasn't happy with this films existence, so they filed a DMCA Complaint. Honestly it was kind of dumb because The film was a passion project, not a replacement, no to mention Saban must be aware of fan films like these with them making their own reboot film and all. The creator understands the legal crap he'll have to deal with, but if this does go to court, it might show the legality of fan films for existing works, so yeah, this should be interesting...
