First off the new Devilman anime. Not much is known about it except that it'll release in the fall. I'm hoping for a more faithful adaptation to the original manga than the 70s series was. Devilman was about Akira Fudo Who gets possessed by Devilman and fights against the Demon Invasion. The original Manga is not for the faint of heart, but it is a good read, It's rather Deep, Philosophical stuff. We did get a more faithful adaptation with the 90s OVA, but it never Completed. This could benefit from a more complete animated version. However we don't know if it's a new series or a film series, only time will tell.
Dragon Ball is getting a new anime series after 18 years. It's called Dragon Ball Super. Think of it as a canon GT. Again not much is known about this series except it'll come out this July as a TV series. We don't know how many episodes it'll have, but it's safe bet we'll see a year long series, Unless it's a huge hit and Toei demands a second season, but even then Toriyama's getting old, and he said several times he wants to retire. Still, give it time, news will happen and pop up on sites like ANN and magazines like V-Jump. It's anyone's guess whether Beerus will appear though...
Next there's been rumors about Sailor Moon Crystal going into It's 3rd arc, but not much has been confirmed, though it's likely that the series will take a break after the current arc. I don't know if they will, but it's possible... Expect me to do a talk about Crystal's second arc when that concludes, though it might be more of an addendum to the last Crystal blog.
The next Ultraman series was revealed and it's Ultraman X, He has a cool design, though not as cool as Ginga, but his series sucked, and I haven't seen Ginga S because it's being subbed at a really slow pace. X will use Spark Dolls again and I'm still tired of collecting mons in every toku series ever. Spoiler, the new Chouseishin will have collectibles and soon Godzilla movies will be doomed have such ridiculous playthings In every show and movie aimed at kids...
In the realm of "Why is this going to be a thing?" We have movies based off of Attack on Titan, Ghost in the Shell, and Robotech. Yeah the big problem with these movies is not because the characters aren't asian (got to cut corners somehow), it's because they leave the job to 3rd rate, no life, reject filmmakers who don't understand the source material, It's a pretty safe bet that these franchises once known for brains and vision are going to turn into generic action flicks, and be below average at best.
In the realm of "Congratulations for futzing with the source material! You'd thing you guys would've learned your lesson with previous failures!!!" We've got the DC Cinematic Universe, Which is shows how amazing it is when people don't learn. We've got the trailer for Batman V. Superman, which just shows why I believe that the filmmakers believe that Frank Miller is god over guys like Jack Kirby. Also what the hell's up with the Joker in Suicide Squad? Just wondering... Also in said area is Fantastic 4 (or Fant4stic), I believe the Fantastic 4 should have just a little bit of fun like the Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies, doesn't anyone agree? Anyone? Is it such a taboo thing for super heroes to have a little bit of fun in movies that aren't made by Marvel themselves...
Ant-Man looks better than it has any right to be. I assume Yellowjacket's the villain of the movie, but I'm wondering, where's the Wasp? She was a founding avenger in the comics. That doesn't matter because the Film's going to have MICRO ACTION against 2 POWER RANGERS!!!! If Marvel's superhero movies can have fun, why can't others too?
Other films you should look forward to this year inlude Jurassic World (for Dino versus Dino Action), Terminator Genesys (for a new Terminator movie that has the potential not to suck) and Star Wars VII (the movies being pretty much hush hush about what's in it, but that can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it)...
In the realm of movies you probably should avoid, Pixels. A stupid premise for a feature length movie, The fact it's happening before the proper Mario Bros movie, and the fact that it doesn't look all that great. Not to mention they spoiled what could've been the best part of the movie with the cameo by Toru Iwatani. Still it has good effects, Right? Right? Whatevs... In the realm of movies that we probably should avoid, but probably won't is Five Night's at Freddy. A franchise which has all but sold out within it's first year of existence has finally over stated it's welcome with this WTFWYT of an announcement.
In other Video Game news, Congratulations Konami, You're the new Capcom!!!! For a Company that has had made some of the best games on all the generations they've been alive, they've made decisions like firing Hideo Kojima, Canceling Silent Hills (even after a popular demo), and being a bunch of P***ies. They know they're done. If there's another crash like there was in 1983, it's well desrved, because we as gamers will not tolerate this level of Corporate Greed and Selling Out!!!! D:<
Lastly, we've got tech news... Windows 10 was revealed more, and it'll ditch Internet Explorer for for Microsoft Edge. Looks good don't get me wrong, but I'm going to miss the 3D look of our operating systems and software, and I'm in no hurry to upgrade. Windows 8 was a buggy mess and Windows 9 is nonexistent to not confuse it with Windows 9x, or Microsoft really sucks at counting that bad. In the realm of ideas that sound better than it's possible for them to be, Also from Microsoft, HoloLens... a piece of tech that allows you to manipulate holograms. Yeah, it's too good of an idea to work at the moment, it needs about 20-30 years of perfection to work as well as they say it will... I get the feeling it's mainly going to be used more in the professional market than in the consumer market, at least for the time being...
In closing, happy 10 years of existence YouTube, you may've caused us a lot of grief, and are to afraid of getting sued, but for the time I used the website, you gave us a lot of memories. someone should make an epic journey through he ages montage featuring 1000 or so videos from the site.
