Remember when the term director's cut was something holy amongst film buffs... Now they can put the term extended cut on anything to make a quick buck and it's their way of telling the general public... "Hey, this version might not suck as much as the original... LOVE ME AGAIN!!!!!" Case in point the Director's cut of Saban's big humiliating flop from last weekend known as Power Rangers Super Megaforce "Legendary Battle" is probably going to be seen as a cash grab, but can it possibly be savaged with a longer running time and extended scenes, well...
Here's every thing you need to know about this TV Movie... I'm not rehashing my original review of this, It's right here, go read it if you need to catch up... Suffice to say it set the bar as low as it can go for both TV Ratings Traps and Power Rangers Episodes. So imagine this episode if I stuck my finger up my ass then I sprayed it with Febreeze so it doesn't smell that bad. OK, it's not quite the epic disaster as the original finale was, but a lot of the same problems are still there (sloppy editing, To little focus on the rangers and legend war, no explanations for anything),but it is somewhat saved by added scenes and fanservice...
You see the original 2 episodes this was based on had stuff happening without any rhyme or reason (kind of like Dragon Ball Z Kai, speaking of... I'm King Kai and I know the Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb. F*** off, Shut up, Bojack.), but here the added scenes do actually help. So yeah one part of this now sucks slightly less. But if the problems you were aiming to see fixed include a better legend war and explanations for the Supersonic Blitz Lightning Prism Rangers, Prepare to be disappointed, because that'll cost Saban more money too add to a Show that went over budget before it bombed an ended last weekend. There's a few scenes Saban promised would be in the movie like Green Samurai Ranger using Green Mighty Morphin' Rangers Dragon Shield, but that never happened. Also I know What people defending this series are going to say...
"DUDE, IT'S LIKE, FOR KIDS!!!!" And You're right It is for kids, but kids are not dumb kids deserve shows that are intellegent, that don't talk to them, that take risks. Kids stuff is not an excuse to slack off, Kids stuff matters, and want to know how intellegent Kids stuff can get... In Space, Ttime Force, Lost Galaxy, RPM, from the very same franchise no less, I believe that Kids shows has the exact same skill level and brains adult shows have... That is when they actually try.
Overall I give this a 2 Super Mega Sabers on the ground out of 4, Skip both versions, but if you want to see the better version see this version.
Here's hoping that Dino Charge is better than this season...
