SHIFT. INTO. TURBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie Review

Welp, My Carranger Review comes out in a couple weeks, At the time of this writing, I haven't started to write it, but rest assured, it should come out April Fools Day. It's going to be a serious review, not a joke review. Let's talk about Carranger's Power Rangers adaption, Turbo, It's underrated, it's not the best PR Season, but it's a lot better than a lot of other Ranger Seasons, heck I prefer it over Carranger. Little known fact, the series started out with a movie rather than a traditional season premiere. so Let's talk about said movie as we SHIFT, IN-TO, TUR-BO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIGH-TY EN-GINE'S ROAR, TUR-BO-CHARGED FOR MORE, DRI-VOR ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!! GO, POWER RANGERS TURBO, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POWER RANGERS TURBO, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! POWER RANGERS TURBO, GOOOOOO-OOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

STORY:

This space pirate known as Divatox is after this "Wizard" known as Lerigot, and The Rangers have to stop her from reaching the Nemesis Triangle, save Lerigot, and stop Divatox from marrying Maligore. In order to do so they have to get new Turbo Powers, based off of CARS, even though their Zeo Powers were just fine. Rocky injures him self training for a martial arts tournament, so this 12 year old known as Justin has to take over as the Blue Ranger. Also there's Jason, Kimberly, Bulk and Skull, but the don't add much to the plot, not even Bulk and Skull, Who can save an episode, get an arc, they're just there. I'm going to say it right now, this movie's dumb, Not even so dumb it's enjoyable, just dumb dumb. Heck there's a serious lack of logic to this movie, like "Why choose a 12 year old as the new Blue Ranger?" and "What happened to the Zeo Powers". Those are just two, I admit you can be mindless as a power rangers thing, but this is overboard...

CHARACTERS:

Justin feels like he's in the show/movie just to appeal to kids, and not because the writers wanted it, it doesn't help he's hopelessly bland and annoying in this movie. He does get slightly better in the show, but Divatox sure as hell doesn't, she's just as annoying as she was in the show in the movie. Elgar is just there, but spoiler, he gets killed in the movie, if only he stayed dead. Rygog is essentially another Henchman who doesn't get a lot off screentime. Lerigot looks like a lion monkey muppet dressed like a Stardust Crusaders Villain. It doesn't help that he sounds like Chewbacca gargling. Kimberly and Jason are pretty much fanservice as Linkara said, Heck they could've got 2 actors from the street to play the same roles as them and it would have the same effect.

PRESENTATION:

It's better than the rest of the movie, with great costume designs, Piranhatrons Notwithstanding, with Maligore, Putra Pods, and Divatox looking better than in the show. The sound track has great songs by Jeremy Sweet. The Zords look amazing, But the combining sequence isn't as fast-paced as it was in the show, even if it was more cinematic. The last nitpick I have for this movie is some of the effects look like they've been done in Adobe After Effects and Autodesk Maya, kind of like a lot of recent Power Rangers/Super Sentai Seasons.

DOES IT HOLD UP AS MUCH AS IT DID IN 1997:

No, not at FRAKKING ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a nostalgic curiosity and should stay as such from now until the end of time. Still, I recommend this if you're like 12 or under, but forget it, if you're that age, you're not reading my blog. I give this 2 Turbo Morpher Keys out of 4...

Let's just hope that hey can give the Rangers a proper silver screen treatment next year when that movie comes out, I mean IF that movie comes out...

A. Yoshi's Carranger Review, a goofy sentai series, reviewed. Racing to the finish April 1st, only on anonymousyoshi007.blogspot.com. GO, GO!!!!!! CARRANGER, CARRANGER!!!!!
