After such a great first series, there was not much need for Avatar: The Last Airbender Part 2, but FANS WANTED MORE! MORE!! MOAR!!!!!!!!!! How does Legend of Korra compare to Last Airbender (NO NOT THE MOVIE), Find out today.

STORY:
The main story takes place 70 years after the end of the first series. This time the locations are more modern, we have a new protagonist, and it feels different and similar at the same time. The main protagonist already mastered Water, Earth, and Firebending, but has yet to master Airbending. The whole story takes place in Republic City. While I appreciate the more modern look of the locations, it definitely takes away from the Chinese mythology look of the previous series (I'unno, but the more fantasy elements of the first series really helped it). We have a new class of element benders, known as metalbenders. I'm pretty sure that most of the first part of the series is going to concentrate on Korra learning Airbending. So, there's this side-story where Korra is in this bending tournament, but I doubt anyone's goin' to give a crap, and is goin' to take a backseat to the more important story.
So overall, while the story isn't as great as previous series, it still feels pretty strong on it's own.
CHARACTERS:
Korra is our main protagonist. As I said, She's already mastered three out of the four main elements, but she needs to master one more. I'm sorry but I don't see her being the main avatar. While Aang was some weird godlike creature, Korra is just some experienced student in comparison (because she pretty much is). Sadly, she is the only one with any real characterization as of yet so i'm goin' to have to cut this section of the review short.
PRESENTATION:
So the presentation is hit or miss. While this has some pretty awesome CG parts in some areas, the regular 2D animation feels like a PC Engine Super CD game, or a Sega CD game for that matter. Maybe it comes from watching this on a high contrast monitor rather than a 480p television. But the series has more anime influences than the previous series, from well known voice actors to the ways the characters look and act. The presentation is decent but flawed.
OVERALL:
While this isn't as strong of a start as the first series was, it's still worth a watch even if it's just a plain decent start. I give this 2 and a half arrow tattooed heads out of 4.
