Well, we made it, the last blog of Toku month, We're reviewing the first Garo TV series. HENSHIN HEROES AREN'T JUST FO KIDS ANYMORE!!!! Sure we have our riders, rangers, metallic warriors, and 12 story high masked giants, but have you ever seen a golden knight fighting monsters from THE DEPTHS OF HELL that control other humans!!!! Thought not. But is it any good?


STORY:

Here's the scoop, a young struggling artist named Kaoru Mitsuki get's splashed with the blood of a horror (the  monsters of the show). She has a hundred days to live. She then bumps into a young man named Kouga Saejima, who's the protagonist of the series. He then has to kill Kaoru, but ends up befriending her. Kouga is the hero, a Makai Knight known as GARO, which was the inspiration for a fictional Childrens book known as The Black Flame and the Golden Wind. From the first episode on, we get things like New Powers, New Horrors, and more Epic Battles. A few episodes into the series we get a new Makai Knight, Known as ZERO, or Rei Suzumura. He has a vendetta Against GARO for possibly killing his Love. The battle goes throughout the series, sometimes having them fight together and/or fighting against each other. We later learn that Kouga had his father (The original GARO) killed in a fight, and the new GARO seeks revenge. Late in the series we get the KIBA, the big bad of the first series. Close to the finale Garo heads to the Tower Barago is in and fights Kodama, once the just under 100 second timer GARO uses reaches 0, HE TURNS INTO A MONSTER AND DESTROYS KODAMA!!!! He and Zero fight Gulm next and get their asses handed to them. GARO reaches the room that Barago is in and once he tries to fight KIBA, He get's absorbed, and The Messiah is ready to be summoned, GARO fights in an epic battle with the shadow of the colossus bos... I mean Messiah. and once he wins, you may thing the series is over, but no, we still have one more fight with the dark knight, KIBA. the fight is very reminicent of the fight between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, after the fight GARO GIVES ONE FINAL STASH TO THE MONSTER, they the heroes say their goodbyes and the series is over.

This is a real great story for those who are tired of the excessively Kiddy stories of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. It's epic and aimed at the more mature market.


CHARACTERS:

Kouga/GARO is the Badass, and he's silent most of the time, unlike most henshin heroes who use a belt, a bracelet, or even a cell phone, he uses a sword known as a soul metal. He looks a lot like Ichigo from Bleach in a way, but one is better written that the other. He has a ring known as Zaruba, who serves as mentor. Kaoru is the chick. Nuff said. Rei/ZERO is the rival/opposite of GARO, He's more loud and still is a  badass. He fights with 2 swords which combine to become 1 dual bladed sword. Barago/KIBA is the big bad, he only wants to summon all the horrors to reek havoc around the world. The horrors are interesting, they take over other people like with the Guyver's Zoanoids, Speaking of i wonder if the monster of the week taking over other people is in something older than Guyver or GARO. Please tell me. These are some of most well written toku characters I've seen, they're not annoyning, they have personality and there's no kid.


PRESENTATION:


The action is some of the best I've seen in any tokusatsu, if not, the best, It takes CGI, special effects, and fast paced action to it's finest. If you look at one of the costume designs or fight scenes, and don't go, "Awww man, I want to see this." You have some teriblr tastes bro. Being a more mature toku series, it has some bits which I can't go over so you might have to watch it. The music compliments every scene, even the more emotional moments, if I could get the sound track for my ipod, I would.


OVERALL:

This series is just as good as Jetman, No scratch it, IT'S BETTER THAN JETMAN!!!! It's the perfect blent of action, horror, and drama. I give this four Madogu out of four.

AY: Hand me the Mega Mushroom.

YE: OK.

AY: POWER SWORD!!!! *Cuts one of the Moderator's tentacles off, Takes 20 HP*

Mod: LASER CANON!!!!

AY: MIRROR SHIELD!!!! *Reflects Back at Moderator and takes 55 HP*

Mod: THUNDERSHOCK!!!! *Paralyzed and takes 998 HP*

AY: MEGATON HAMMER!!!! *Takes 1,237 HP*

Mod: DAMN YOU!!!! Time for a TORNADO...

AY: METAL BOX AND FIRE FLOWER!!!! *Get's No Damage*

      HAMEHAMEKA!!!! *TAKES 3,141 DAMAGE*
      LET'S TAKE THIS TO THE SKIES!!!!

Mod: SUPER. HYPER. BEAM!!!!! *Charges*

AY: OMNISLASH!!!!!

Omnislash is Cloud Strife's biggest Limit Break in FF7 and is now used by AnonymousYoshi.

*Takes 4,547 HP*
Mod: I Will Absorb What's Left of You and Start a New Army, GIGA DRAIN!!!!

AY: VR TECHNOBAZOOKA COMMAND, NOW!!!!! * Takes 1 HP, Moderator Destroyed*
