Kamen Rider Amazon is a beastman who can turn into a Kamen Rider. his series had violence and gore like you wouldn't believe. the new series amplifies it, now with a good helping of body horror, social commentary, and twice the violence and gore of the original series. How does this series fare, especially since it's getting a season 2?
It's got more of a sci-fi horror feel. Haruka Mizusawa becomes infected with the Amazon cells (created by Nozama Pharmacy), He becomes Amazon Omega, he tries to fight the monsters known as Amazonz, who look amazing. Later Jin Takayama becomes infected with the amazon cells and becomes Amazon Alpha. They later Meet Amazon Sigma, and... SOUND FAMILIAR? I'm not even exaggerating this... It's a ripoff of the Guyver manga and anime. Yep a more mature Rider series, and it's a ripoff of the best henshin hero manga of all time... I've got nothing... The characters are interesting mainly due to the fact that they're trying to balance/regain their humanity, but we've seen this story done before, it's really nothing special. There are a couple monsters who help the heroes, which is cool, I guess. The costume design, effects, and action is really good, but there are a few things that bother me... 1) the action is zoomed in too close, 2) The colors are too drab, and 3) there's some serious pacing problems, the story moves at a snail's pace at times. Overall, this show is okay, but nothing really stands out about it. I give this 2.25 Amazon Cells out of 4.
I just hope this series gets better with it's second season...
